Our work team established the biological corridors that will contribute to the connectivity of the landscape, among the fragments of dry forest located in the lands corresponding to 15 families of small landholders that border the El Palomar reserve, in the Guaibanal and Macondal sectors of the Hibácharo district, Department of the Atlántico

In the El Palomar Reserve, we have registered 246 species of plants, 35 species of amphibians and reptiles, 117 species of birds and 31 species of mammals. Among the species of plants that present threat of extinction according to the IUCN, are the  Peroba rosa (Aspidosperma polyneuron), the Bombacaceae (Pachira quinata), the Vera wood  (Bulnesia arborea) and Belencita nemorosa, as well as the fauna species such as the Chestnut Piculet (Picumnus cinnamomeus) the White-whiskered Spinetail  (Synallaxis candei), the Chestnut-winged Chachalaca (Ortalis garrula) and the Red-footed turtle (Chelonoidis carbonaria). Due to the above and taking into account the diversity of fauna and flora present in the reserve, the establishment of connectivity corridors will allow in the future to expand the patches of Tropical Dry Forest by generating a greater flow among the species present in the dry forest patches. tropical and therefore preserve the species of fauna and flora.
